When picking a town hall for your London Wedding or London Elopement, there are plenty of iconic venues to pick from across the city. One of the first London town halls that comes to mind, with its stunning late Victorian architecture and gorgeous red brick and blue front doors, is of course Chelsea Old Town Hall. As a London wedding photographer, I always love a town hall wedding!

Where can I get married in Kensington and Chelsea?

If you are contemplating Chelsea Old Town Hall for your own wedding, you’re in good company. From aristocrats to celebrities, Chelsea Old Town Hall welcomes hundreds of couples each year. From ceremonies of up to 140 guests, to small elopements with just you and your witnesses, Chelsea Old Town Hall can accommodate weddings of all sizes.

Chelsea Old Town Hall offers a number of different ceremony rooms for you to choose from. Each room can accommodate a different capacity. Make sure to do your research to see if the Brydon Room, the Rossetti Room or the Harrington Room is right for your London wedding ceremony.

In addition to the ceremony spaces, Chelsea Old Town Hall also offers reception spaces with their Small Hall and Main Hall. These are a great option if you don’t want to move your wedding party around the city following your wedding ceremony.

Why Should I have a London Elopement?

If you are planning on getting married but aren’t yet sure if you’d like to have a big London wedding, or a more intimate London elopement let me share some reasons you might consider a London elopement.

  • If the thought of planning a big wedding day stresses you, a smaller more intimate elopement can save you a lot of planning stress.
  • London is a fun and vibrant city with plenty of gorgeous spots for your couple portraits and amazing restaurants to have your celebratory meal at.
  • If you are wanting to get married quickly an elopement can be organised much quicker than a traditional wedding day.
  • If you are wanting to save money, an elopement is more financially feasible.

To help you visualise what your London elopement or intimate London wedding could look like at Chelsea Old Town Hall, I organised a styled shoot with couple, Alice and Aidan. We spent an afternoon enjoying the gorgeous and bustling Chelsea streets, which were beautiful even on a cold December day!

From the colourful houses on Bywater Street to the beautiful red brick mansions around Sloane Square Tube station, I snapped so many sweet pictures of the pair!

South of Chelsea Old Town Hall is the Thames, where you’ll find the gorgeous Albert Bridge, which is beautiful both during the day and at night. Depending on the time of your ceremony and the season you get married in, the amount of daylight you have will be impacted. Albert Bridge is an extra lovely spot when it gets dark, as it is lit up at night with glorious results. You can also meander along the path by the Albert Bridge for more gorgeous waterfront photos.

Wondering what to wear to your Chelsea Old Town Hall ceremony? If you are planning a London elopement, mini dresses are super fun and make it easy for you to move around the city on your wedding day. Paired with a cute pair of heels, or boots and you’ve got an instantly iconic look!

As a London Wedding Photographer, I know all the good spots around Chelsea Old Town Hall for some gorgeous couple portraits. Depending on your style, we can opt for more private roads, or make the most of the bubbling energy in Kensington and Chelsea.

From capturing your morning getting ready at home for your ceremony, to arriving at Chelsea Old Town Hall, there is plenty for your London wedding photographer to capture. Inside the venue, your photographer is restricted by any parameters your registrar will set. This might dictate where your photographer is allowed to stand. Following the ceremony, you can have the classic confetti exit. For this I always recommend equipping your guests with more confetti than you’d think. Always make sure to check what kind of confetti your London wedding ceremony venue allows. For the successful confetti photos, really go all out with your confetti supply!
